American Warrior Outdoors

American Warrior Outdoors is a 100% veteran-owned and operated nonprofit organization dedicated to reconnecting veterans and active-duty service members with the healing power of the outdoors. Our mission is to provide outdoor experiences that foster camaraderie, mental clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Through fishing, hunting, and other outdoor adventures, we offer opportunities for veterans and military members to step away from daily stress and rediscover peace in nature. Since receiving our nonprofit status in 2024, we've proudly brought hundreds of warriors into the wild—building bonds, sharing stories, and creating lifelong memories.

At AWO, we believe the outdoors isn’t just a place—it’s a path to healing. Whether it's casting a line, tracking game, or simply sitting around a campfire, our trips are designed to strengthen the mind, body, and spirit. We partner with guides, captains, landowners, and fellow patriots to ensure these experiences are meaningful and, whenever possible, provided at little to no cost to our participants.

American Warrior Outdoors is more than an organization—it’s a community. Join us as we serve those who’ve served us, one adventure at a time.

Paul Hewitt Jr - Founder

US ARMY - Disabled Veteran

My name is Paul W. Hewitt Jr. I’m a U.S. Army veteran who’s always had a deep love for the outdoors, community, and helping others. I’m driven by purpose, creativity, and the desire to make a positive impact wherever I can.

I’m someone who believes in honesty, hard work, and staying true to who you are. Whether it’s connecting with people, sharing experiences, or building something meaningful, I put my heart into everything I do. I’m always learning, always growing, and always looking for ways to lift others up along the way.

Outside of AWO and responsibilities, I enjoy gaming, creating content, exploring nature, and diving into new hobbies. I’m grateful for the journey I’m on, and even more grateful for the people who’ve supported me along the way.

I’m a proud US Marine and a current Law Enforcement Officer with over 20 years of experience.

I’m a resident of Sussex County and enjoy hunting, fishing, and all nature of things outdoors. I enjoy connecting with other veterans, which his organization facilitates, bringing us together through outdoor adventures and sharing in that ‘Esprit de Corps’ that we all know so well.
